Anu Madgavkar
Anu Madgavkar is a Senior Fellow with the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), McKinsey’s business and economics research arm and is based in Mumbai, India. She joined MGI in 2011, and leads teams based in India, working on global as well as India-focused research themes.
Anu’s recent research has focused on economic development, growth, and poverty alleviation in India and developing countries. She is co-author of the MGI report, ‘From poverty to empowerment: India’s imperative for jobs, growth, and effective basic services’. She also leads MGI’s research on the impact of technology on India and other emerging markets and has authored the upcoming report ‘India’s technology opportunity: transforming work, empowering people’. Anu has authored several reports and white papers on economic growth and financial sector development. She is a member of the Confederation of Indian Industry’s National Council on Economic Growth and Investments.
Prior to her current role at MGI, Anu was a Partner of McKinsey, focusing on financial services clients. Previously, she has worked with a global bank, an Asian regional brokerage house and a leading credit rating agency. She holds an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and graduated with a degree in Economics and Statistics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
